Saturday English Class

A class on Buddhism, which is taught by college monastics, is offered on Saturday afternoon and is open to the public.

Saturday Night Friendship Dinner

Since 2002, Friendship Dinners have been held so residents and neighbors can dine together and deepen growing friendships. At the request of the neighbors, Dharma talks and discussions were begun in 2003 and are now held after the vegetarian dinner. Over the years, attendance has increased, so both the dining hall and the adjoining reception room are now used to seat the guests and residents.

Taichi Class

On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, a course on Taichi is taught by a Toowoomba resident as a community service.

Christmas and Chinese New Year

Special banquets are held every year at Christmas and Chinese New Year. In addition to the vegetarian dishes that represent many cuisines, there are also performances from diverse cultures.

Community Support

To show its appreciation to the community and to Australia for all the kindnesses shown, the college has donated funds to Toowoomba Hospital; Toowoomba Hospice; the University of Southern Queensland, Toowoomba, for the establishment of scholarships; the University of Queensland, Brisbane toward the founding of the Australian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies; the University of Sydney toward the founding of its Buddhist department; and Griffith University, Brisbane.
